For over 40 years, Covenant Reformed Church (URCNA) in Carbondale has been a beacon of Reformed faith in a community that is predominantly Roman Catholic. To continue serving its congregation and the broader Carbondale community, the church is embarking on a significant renovation of its historic building, constructed in the early 1900s, as well as the transformation of the neighboring property into a ministry center.

Church Building Renovation

  • Installing ramps and upgrading bathrooms to make the building accessible for handicapped individuals.

  • Power washing the exterior and assessing the steeple for necessary repairs.

  • Refreshing the interior with new paint to create a more welcoming environment.

Covenant House Ministry Center

Covenant Reformed Church recently acquired the house next to the church, which will be transformed into "Covenant House," a ministry center designed to meet the needs of both the congregation and the community. Planned uses for the center include:

  • A nursery for infants and classrooms for Sunday school.

  • A clothes closet for those in need and a food pantry for emergency situations.

  • Rooms for Bible studies and recovery groups.

  • Housing for missionaries, visiting pastors, and other kingdom servants.

  • Additional parking for Sunday services and Wednesday night activities.

Renovation Costs & Needs

  • Roofing: $10,000 (labor and materials).

  • Siding and windows: $12,000 (materials only).

  • Carpet squares for the main floor: $3,500 (materials only).
